T. Elon Dancy II Named Associate Dean for Equity and Justice

T. Elon Dancy, II has been named the new Associate Dean for Equity and Justice in the University of Pittsburgh School of Education. He will oversee the school-wide strategy for centering equity, justice, and antiracism across the entire Pitt School of Education.

Environmental Social Justice Summer Program Connects Math Education to Real-World

While their friends were enjoying summer days at the pool, a small group of local middle school students were testing samples of the pool water—and other water sources from the environment, like tap water and bottled water—for bacteria and lead.

The cohort of 12 students who attend Pittsburgh Public Schools University Prep Middle School and/or reside in the Hill District participated in an environmental social justice math project-based unit that explored water quality in Pittsburgh.

Pitt Center for Urban Education to House Preeminent Journal Educational Researcher

The Center for Urban Education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Education has been selected as the new home institution of the influential research education journal Educational Researcher.

The Center for Urban Education will house the journal from 2019 - 2022. It is customary for the assignments to rotate every three years between the top schools of education.

CUE Selected for 2016 University UPSIDE Award

The Center for Urban Education has been chosen as one of two recipients of the 2016 University Prize for Strategic, Inclusive, and Diverse Excellence (UPSIDE) Awards for its efforts to further the University’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

The award recognizes programs that increase the access to and full participation of minorities, women, and other protected classes in all aspects of the University.
