K. Leroy Irvis Fellow
Derric is a K. Leroy Irvis Fellow in the Center for Urban Education at the University of Pittsburgh. He is a native of Brunswick, Ga., and a graduate of the Florida A&M University School of Architecture. His introduction to Pittsburgh came via an Urban Design Fellowship (UDREAM) within the Remaking Cities Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to his current doctoral studies, Heck was the director of an educational consulting firm focusing on organizational development and expansion. He is a member of the 100 Black Men of Western Pennsylvania and the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and continues volunteer with several community organizations.
